Burnham faces Labour big beast unrest at Liverpool conference as early election talk refuses to die

Everton fans celebrate in the stands. Andy Burnham has called the 40-year ban on drinking alcohol in view of the pitch "discrimination" against football supporters.
Andy Burnham touched down in Liverpool for his debut Labour conference as Prime Minister with a pledge to create 'hope in every heart', yet the mood among senior party figures is anything but harmonious. Former Business Secretary Peter Kyle went public with calls for the Government to move faster on economic growth, while Communities Secretary Angela Rayner used interviews ahead of the conference to take aim at a Cabinet colleague's immigration proposals. Despite Burnham's efforts to scotch the idea, ministers are privately running the numbers on a snap election.
Peter Kyle said the Government lacks 'enough focus' on growth and hinted workers' rights rollout may need to be slowed to boost the economy.
Rayner clashed openly with Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood over plans to lengthen foreign social care workers' path to permanent settlement.
Despite Burnham's flat denial, several of his own ministers do not fully believe him — with the Holborn and St Pancras by-election result privately cited as a potential trigger.
