Burnham government reveals property price caps across England for its Your First Home scheme for first-time buyers

The Andy Burnham government has set regional price caps under the 'Your First Home' scheme, defining the maximum property value eligible for first-time buyer support in each part of England. Caps vary significantly by region, with higher limits in London and the South East and lower thresholds in areas such as East Lancashire and the North West.

Manchester and Greater Manchester buyers face a different cap to those in Lancashire, where the ceiling is set below the national average.

The scheme is designed to help those locked out of the market by rising deposit requirements and house prices that have outpaced wages.

Regional variation means the same salary buys eligibility in one county but disqualifies buyers across a county border.
