Burnham is to release details of his Man City meetings after Downing Street was forced to distance itself from his 'concern' over Abu Dhabi sale

Andy Burnham is to publish a full account of his dealings with Manchester City's Abu Dhabi owners after his defence of the club landed No 10 in a political crisis. The PM said he had only one significant meeting with the ownership — in 2021 — and insisted the investment record was entirely separate from the £830million 'sham contracts' scandal.
Kemi Badenoch and the Liberal Democrats both demanded he release all records, including minutes and hospitality gifts received from City's owners.
Burnham admitted he misspoke — 'my mind had been on Labour Party conference' — but refused to retract his concern that the Abu Dhabi owners might sell the club.
An independent commission found City guilty of 114 Premier League financial regulation breaches between 2009 and 2018; the club denies wrongdoing and is appealing.
