Defence Secretary Wes Streeting warns that hostile nations' 'force strength and war economy' may enable them to launch an attack within four years. The warning arrives just ahead of Wednesday's Budget, at which Chancellor John Healey is reportedly set to announce billions in new defence spending. Healey is still not expected to outline a path to spending 3 per cent of GDP on defence. Tory shadow chancellor Andrew Griffith says Healey should resign if he falls short of doing so.
Households are being advised to keep nine litres of water and a three-day food supply on hand.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham insists 'it's not about panicking' but about sensible measures.
