Burnham slaps down Rayner's 'sauvignon blanc' joke as he urges Britons to stockpile three days of supplies

The official 'Be Ready' checklist tells households to keep three litres of water per person per day, cash in case card payments collapse and a wind-up radio. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said 'you need to have a clear head' and revealed his own cupboard holds beans, soup and Twiglets. Angela Rayner sat beside him at a Liverpool wildfire summit. Critics accused ministers of 'bossy lectures' and 'encouraging panic'.

Rayner had joked she would pack 'mascara, concealer' and wine in her disaster bag.

Wes Streeting warned that Russia could launch 'state-sponsored terrorism' against everyday infrastructure.

Treasury minister James Murray said the only thing he stockpiles is coffee.
