Green Party is sued by Jewish members over 'Zionism is racism' conference motion that Burnham says bars coalition deal

Jewish members have launched legal action against the Green Party after its conference passed a motion declaring 'Zionism is racism' and calling for Israel to be replaced by a single Palestinian state. Prime Minister Andy Burnham warned Labour would not support a partnership with the Greens while the motion stands, a blow that could prove decisive if Labour falls short of a working majority at the next general election. Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis and Burnham both branded the motion antisemitic, as moderate Greens scramble across WhatsApp groups to devise a strategy to overturn it.

The motion was passed by just 0.4 per cent of Green Party members, yet reversing it faces no guaranteed majority after a surge of new members joined specifically to back it.

An investigation revealed organised extremists systematically took over the Greens to impose an antizionist agenda, with Jewish News branding the party 'fanboys of Hamas'.
