Burnham told to 'come clean' after deleted records expose two secret dinners with Man City chairman

Prime Minister Andy Burnham held private dinners with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak at the Etihad in August 2017 and April 2018, according to records — yet the Greater Manchester Combined Authority's statement on Monday made no specific reference to either meeting. The two meals, valued at close to £1,200 in total, had been logged on a GMCA hospitality register that was subsequently removed from the authority's website. Burnham maintains that City officials never brought up the club's Premier League charges at any of his meetings.
Shadow sports minister Louie French demanded Burnham 'come clean', warning he 'cannot hide behind the GMCA' over what was discussed.
Burnham's press secretary pointed to Monday's statement saying he attended 'a small number' of home matches — but refused to explain why the deleted dinner entries were omitted.
Kemi Badenoch is demanding No 10 publish all details of Burnham's meetings with senior City figures, as the club fights a guilty verdict on more than 100 Premier League financial rule breaches.
