Burnham told to 'come clean' after deleted records reveal undisclosed Man City chairman dinners

Andy Burnham is under mounting pressure to explain two hospitality dinners he attended with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in 2017 and 2018, after register entries recording those meetings were reportedly deleted from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority website. Monday's GMCA statement acknowledged three separate contacts but made no mention of the dinners, despite Burnham having told MPs that "all of my dealings" with the club's Abu Dhabi owners would be disclosed. Shadow sports minister Louie French urged him to "come clean," warning that the prime minister "cannot hide behind the GMCA."

French said the public had received "precious little information" about the substance of the meetings — what was raised and whether anything was agreed.
