Buses will replace trains across Essex and Suffolk for three November weekends during Great Eastern Main Line engineering works

Network Rail has confirmed that buses will replace trains on the Great Eastern Main Line across three weekends in November, affecting routes to Harwich, Braintree, Sudbury, Southend Victoria and Southminster. Work includes rerailing at Marks Tey and Kelvedon, vegetation management on the Harwich Town branch, and a £1m platform upgrade at Bures station. Passengers are urged to check online before travelling.

The engineering work is designed to improve reliability and prepare the network for major track renewals planned over Christmas.

Separately, ScotRail passengers on the East Kilbride line faced Friday morning delays after emergency services were called to an incident at Hairmyres, with buses replacing trains between Busby and East Kilbride.
