Cabinet Office civil servant faces investigation after wishing Netanyahu had died instead of Dolly Parton

A Cabinet Office civil servant has been placed under internal investigation after a post on their personal Instagram account this week expressed a wish that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had died in place of Dolly Parton, who died on Tuesday after a short battle with cancer. The caption read 'It should have been Netanyahu', accompanied by slides declaring 'it's a cruel world that Dolly Parton is gone, but Benjamin Netanyahu is still here.' The same official also targeted Trump supporters, writing 'if you're MAGA and posting Dolly today f*** all the way off.'

The Cabinet Office described the post as 'clearly unacceptable' and confirmed that 'appropriate steps are being taken' against the unnamed official.

The post also took a swipe at Trump's continued survival, with the line 'Why don't you believe in God? Because Dolly died before Trump did.'

The Civil Service Code binds all civil servants to clear standards of conduct that extend to their personal social media activity.
