Cadbury owner demands small Devon vegan chocolate maker pull its Snowballs from shelves in a second trademark row in days

Mondelez International — the giant behind Cadbury and Toblerone — sent a legal letter to Devon-based vegan brand Moo Free demanding its White Choccy Snowballs be pulled from shelves immediately, just weeks before Christmas. Moo Free co-founder Mike Jessop said Cadbury Snowballs were a product he had no knowledge of, and added that he is lactose intolerant so cannot try one. The firm has been stocking major retailers including Waitrose, Asda and Amazon for two years.
Mondelez claims it has held the 'Snowball' trademark for chocolate confectionery since 2001.
Jessop questioned whether so generic a word could be trademarked, saying: 'It's a snowball — it is not like we are making a Freddo.'
The dispute is the second in days; Moo Free said it 'stands in solidarity' with Catherine's Originals, which faces a separate Toblerone shape row.
