California foster son is charged with poisoning his cancer-stricken mother with fentanyl and burying her body to steal her property

Cedric von Ferdinand, 34, told relatives that Nadine Jett, a 64-year-old retired attorney battling pancreatic cancer, wanted to be cremated in Mexico without a funeral, authorities say. Prosecutors say she was already dead by then. Toxicology found a massive dose of acetylfentanyl in her system. He was arrested on Tuesday in Los Angeles County and faces life without parole or death if convicted.

Jett was last seen alive at a chemotherapy session on January 14, 2024.

He allegedly told her caretaker her services were no longer needed because Jett had died.

Prosecutors say he forged her signature and even claimed to have 'married' her.
