California parents face child endangerment charges after their son, 13, was killed crashing his electric motorbike at 45mph

Benson Nguyen, of Santa Ana, was doing 45mph, not the 35mph officials first gave, when his $4,299 Eride Pro SS 2.0 hit a raised central divider in Garden Grove in May. His father, Vu Thanh Nguyen, 56, and mother, Hong Cuc Thi Nguyen, 49, could be jailed if convicted. TikTok clips show the boy outrunning police cars on the bike.

Prosecutors turned their focus to the parents months after the fatal crash.

In one video he mounts a curb at high speed while a friend films.

Another clip shows him pulling a wheelie into oncoming traffic, balanced on one leg.
