A yellow wind warning from the Met Office covers the Outer Hebrides, Skye and part of the western Highlands, with gusts forecast at 50-60mph generally and up to 70mph on exposed coasts and high ground, peaking in late morning and early afternoon. Valid from 10am to 7pm on Wednesday, the warning flags ferry, road and air delays as "likely" alongside the possibility of short-term power cuts. CalMac disruption is expected to carry over into Thursday.
Cancelled routes include Mallaig to Lochboisdale, Mallaig to Armadale, Oban to Coll and Tiree, and Fionnphort to Iona.
ScotRail has imposed speed restrictions on the West Highland Line between Fort William and Mallaig, lasting until Thursday at 10am.
High-sided vehicles face delays on exposed routes and bridges, with bus services also at risk of disruption across the affected area.
