Canada's Mark Carney warns outsiders want to 'break us so they can own us' ahead of Alberta's separation vote

'This is not poker,' Mark Carney told about 5,000 people at a Forever Canadian rally at Calgary's BMO Centre, calling a vote against Canada 'a dangerous bluff'. On Monday, oil-rich Alberta will vote on whether to begin the legal process towards a future separation referendum. The warning comes as President Donald Trump wages a trade war on Canada and repeats his threats to make it the 51st state.
Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith have united against separation before the vote.
Separatist group Let Alberta Decide dismisses their agreements as 'pinky promises'.
Professor Daniel Beland says Carney's Alberta popularity owes much to a 'Trump effect'.
