Canadian CEO who was shot with his two daughters during a Toronto mansion raid warns of rising home-invasion violence
The gated mansion on Hyde Park Circle in Toronto's Bridle Path where police say the three masked attackers fled in an SUV, leaving it unclear whether they escaped with any valuables.
David Morton, 75, chief executive of Toronto real estate firm MAC Group, broke his silence Friday to call the 3:40am attack on his family a "terrifying and life-threatening experience" that left him and daughters Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton hospitalised with gunshot wounds. His wife Doriana Zohil-Morton, 64, who serves as MAC Group president, was struck with a hammer — and Morton revealed all four family members were also hit with the hammer by the intruders.
Two of the four victims suffered 'life-altering injuries'; Toronto police's Hold-Up Squad has named the three masked suspects, all believed to be in their 20s, as 'armed and dangerous.'
The suspects forced entry through the rear of the six-bedroom Bridle Path mansion, went upstairs and demanded valuables before firing 'multiple times' when the family fought back.
Morton warned Toronto is facing rising home-invasion violence, saying: 'No family should ever have to experience this.'
