Canadian PM Carney rejects Trump's 'Lake America' rename as Ottawa council plots to swap Trump Avenue for Obama Ave

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has sharply rejected President Trump's executive order renaming Lake Ontario 'Lake America', pointing out that the name predates both countries. New York residents along the lake's southern shore have equally dismissed the change, insisting the name Lake Ontario is not going anywhere. Carney has put Washington on notice that Canada will hit hundreds of American goods with retaliatory tariffs from September 8.
Ottawa City Council voted unanimously to strip Trump Avenue of its name, with options including 'Obama Avenue', 'Taco Avenue' and 'Rosie O'Donnell Avenue'.
'TACO' is a Wall Street nickname for Trump standing for 'Trump Always Chickens Out', a reference to his habit of reversing policy.
Trump has since floated renaming an ocean, while his Interior Secretary Doug Burgum cheered the Lake Ontario order with 'Make the Great Lakes Great Again.'
