Canadian tourist who drank up to 40 beers is convicted of animal cruelty for snatching Las Vegas flamingo Peachy
Mitchell Fairbarn, 34, an Ontario businessman and father of three, now faces up to four years in a Nevada state prison. He is due to be sentenced on December 1. Jurors deliberated for about five hours before returning guilty verdicts on felony and misdemeanour counts. He showed no emotion and left court with his wife; since March he has been held on house arrest in Las Vegas.
Animal experts said Peachy, a 27-year-old Chilean flamingo, lost feathers and blood.
Snapchat clips showed Fairbarn smiling and grabbing the bird by the neck.
He called the stunt a 'silly pranky joke' and said he had received death threats.
