'Categorically false': Richard E Grant denies staging his Celebrity Traitors blunder to escape weeks of filming

A show insider had claimed crew were 'convinced he staged it', saying the 69-year-old was 'there for a good time, not a long time'. Grant pushed back on Tuesday via his Instagram Stories, describing himself as an 'avid fan' since the show first aired. He said being picked as a Traitor was 'an absolute dream and a sheer shock to the system'. The BBC had already put the incident down to an innocent mistake.

Grant became the first Traitor ever banished at the first roundtable after outing himself.

Fellow Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster both voted to banish him.

His daughter warned he would be 'slaughtered' because he cannot hide his feelings.
