Richard E. Grant, pictured in Celebrity Traitors with a fellow contestant in October 2026, has denied staging the blunder that saw him expose his Traitor role within moments of being sworn to secrecy.

A crew member on the BBC show reportedly believed Grant had staged the blunder, saying he 'was there for a good time, not a long time'. The 69-year-old Withnail and I star responded on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, insisting he is 'an avid fan of the show'. Picked as a Traitor with Maya Jama, he outed himself within moments. The BBC had already called it 'an innocent mistake'.

Fellow Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster both voted to banish him at the roundtable.

No Traitor had ever been expelled at the opening roundtable before Grant became the first.

His daughter warned before filming he would be 'slaughtered' because he cannot hide his feelings.
