Category 2 Hurricane Trudy brings heavy rain and 100mph winds to Mexico's Pacific coast as flooding fears grow

A hurricane warning remains in force from Manzanillo in Colima state to Cabo Corrientes in Jalisco. Forecasters expect up to 12 inches of rain in isolated parts of Michoacan, Colima and Jalisco. The National Hurricane Center warned of life-threatening flooding and mudslides on steep terrain. Colima officials fear the ground is already saturated by successive Pacific storms.

Trudy is expected to hug the coast through Sunday evening, then weaken late in the day.

The Mexican navy called on mariners and residents to take 'extreme caution' over rising rivers.

Super Typhoon Champi passed within 10 miles of Guam, and President Trump signed off on an emergency declaration for the island.
