CCTV shows Paul Whitehouse, 68, was attacked at an Islington cashpoint in 'queue rage' rather than a mugging

The Fast Show star had dashed out last Friday to fetch medication for his wife, Dr Mine Conkbayir. On Essex Road, a stranger who believed Whitehouse had pushed in shoved him from the ATM and then threw his bank card at him. Whitehouse fought back and picked the card up off the pavement. A shopkeeper who saw it called the attack 'completely disproportionate'.

Dr Conkbayir first described it on Instagram as a mugging, urging locals: 'Please be super vigilant out there.'

His spokesperson called it a distressing physical and verbal attack.

The shopkeeper warned: 'The bloke needs to be caught before he does this to someone else.'
