Celebrity Traitors filming was 'halted' and the welfare team was called in after James Acaster confessed to being a Traitor
James Acaster, 41, who had been recruited as a reluctant Traitor by Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant despite only ever wanting to play as a Faithful.A clip shared on X of James Acaster's roundtable confession — the first time any contestant has self-outed in the show's history without a vote being called.
James Acaster, 41, broke down so badly during the Celebrity Traitors roundtable that production on the BBC show was halted and a welfare team rushed onto set to check on the cast. Michael Sheen had cornered Acaster with forensic questioning over Ross Kemp's plain-sight murder, pushing him to a breaking point before he confessed he was a Traitor.
Footage of Acaster at his most distressed was cut entirely, leaving viewers watching an edited version that made the roundtable look continuous.
Acaster told castmates 'I was made a Traitor without wanting to be' before all of them unanimously voted to banish him.
'Now we've got a proper final on our hands,' Acaster said afterwards, arguing the confession made tonight's finale more compelling than a three-Traitor walkover would have been.
