Celebrity Traitors star brands show producers 'like human traffickers' in 'blistering row' over family phone ban

An unnamed Celebrity Traitors contestant exploded at producers during filming, comparing the show's team to human traffickers after being refused permission to call family and friends between scenes. Castmates and crew were reportedly left baffled by the outburst, since strict limits on outside contact had been made clear to all participants before they signed up. Phone calls are permitted but only on a producer's device, at select times, with a production team member present.
James Acaster has separately claimed producers edited out a key scene that would have explained why Julie Hesmondhalgh was really banished, saying there was 'evidence of lying'.
Richard E. Grant accidentally revealed he was a Traitor in a live BBC Radio 6 Music interview in June — months before the series aired — forcing producers to scrub the clip from on-demand.
Episode five, airing tonight on BBC One at 8pm, picks up from a cliffhanger in which Traitors Maya Jama, James Acaster and Hannah Fry are set to attempt a face-to-face murder.
