Choose Love, which will receive £41,500 from Celebrity Traitors winner Sebastian Croft, 24, calls Palestinians' situation a 'genocide' on its website and signed an open letter demanding Britain ban arms sales to Israel. The charity previously funded legal costs for Asylum Aid's High Court challenge against the Rwanda deportation scheme — a fight it lost after judges ruled the policy lawful. Tory MP Jack Rankin condemned the BBC for "shovelling" licence-fee money in directions "opposite to the national interest."
Choose Love, previously known as Help Refugees, is where Croft began volunteering aged 15 and now serves as the charity's ambassador.
Sadiq Khan publicly backed both winners' charity choices, wading into the row on the side of Ranganathan and Croft.
Ranganathan directed his own £41,500 share to the Refugee Council, of which he became a patron in September.
