Chancellor John Healey is to blow £7m of taxpayers' cash on Burnham's Northern Olympics dream despite Manchester failing TWICE

The money will fund a full feasibility study into bringing the games to northern England in the 2040s. It will weigh up venues, transport, which cities could share hosting, total costs and whether any bid could actually win. Prime Minister Andy Burnham insists the games would be 'something everyone could get behind'. Healey will unveil the cash in Wednesday's Budget.
Manchester bid for 1996 and 2000 and lost to Atlanta and Sydney.
