Channel 4 reportedly axes Renovation Rescue despite Reese Witherspoon's backing in a fresh blow to home makeover TV

Channel 4 has pulled Renovation Rescue after just two series, with the home improvement genre reportedly "not quite what it was" even when helping families in genuine distress. The cancellation is a double blow for the genre, coming days after the BBC confirmed its 27-year-old DIY SOS will also be rested.
Stacey Solomon fronted the 2024 debut series; Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott, 31, took over hosting duties for the second run earlier this year.
The axing reportedly surprises industry insiders because Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine production company — behind 'Big Little Lies' and 'The Morning Show' — had backed the show.
The wider collapse of the format is reportedly attributed to viewers finding DIY tips online; Channel 4's 'Changing Rooms' reboot also failed after two series.
