Chemistry teacher convicted of indecently assaulting two teenage boys at Finchley school in the 1980s

A jury at Harrow Crown Court found Sally-Anne Bowen, 65, guilty of seven counts of indecent assault against two pupils at Christ's College in Finchley, north London, where she taught chemistry in the late 1980s. The boys were aged around 14 to 15 when Bowen, then in her mid-20s, abused them. Jurors reached majority verdicts after more than six hours of deliberation.

One victim said he had sex with Bowen 'about 20 or 30 times', visited her home and believed they were in a relationship.

The same victim told the court Bowen 'drummed it into him' that he must never tell anyone, and he stayed silent for years to protect her.

A second Aberdeen music teacher, Peter Parfitt of St Margaret's School for Girls, was also struck off this week after a panel found his inappropriate touching had 'sexual motivation'.
