'Cher adores Michael Douglas': Cher's rep responds after the actor claimed Glenn Close deserved her Moonstruck Oscar

Michael Douglas sparked the row on The Graham Norton Show on 30 October, sitting alongside Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin and Naomi Ackie. Close joked she is finally receiving an honorary Academy Award at the November Governors Awards because members "probably don't want to feel guilty anymore" after eight nominations and no wins.

Douglas called Close's role as Alex Forrest in 'Fatal Attraction' 'one of the greatest performances of all time' and noted it was her fourth nomination.

Cher beat Close, Holly Hunter, Meryl Streep and Sally Kirkland for the 1988 prize — while Douglas himself won Best Actor that same night for 'Wall Street'.

Close playfully chided her co-star on the show: 'Michael, be kind!'
