Chinese carmaker Chery, owner of the 'Temu Range Rover' Jaecoo, wants to 'become a British brand' and build cars here

Chery Automobile chairman Yin Tongyue has declared he wants products designed, engineered and produced in the UK for global sale, as his firm accelerates plans for a research and development centre at Millbrook in Bedfordshire. Chery's Jaecoo 7 — dubbed the 'Temu Range Rover' — has become the UK's second best-selling new car, with over 40,000 delivered so far this year.
Chery International president Zhang Guibing raised the possibility of moving Jaecoo's global headquarters from China to London, though no decision has been announced.
Chery already has a partnership with Jaguar Land Rover dating back to 2012, and is in talks with Nissan over manufacturing cars at the Sunderland plant.
Omoda and Jaecoo recorded their best-ever month in October with 22,296 registrations, up 106% year on year, giving them a 6.37% UK market share.
