Lian Yunzhi, nicknamed "Zhizhi," broke the women's 3×3 Rubik's Cube average world record twice in the same month, at competitions in Wuhan and Guangzhou. The Chengdu-born six-year-old recorded an average of 4.27 seconds across five solves — roughly the time it takes to read these opening words. She clapped and raised a fist in celebration after placing the completed cube on the table.

Lian knows more than 1,300 Rubik's Cube algorithms and practises two to three hours every day.
