Half of Sebastian Croft's Celebrity Traitors prize money is to go to a refugee charity that has accused Israel of 'genocide'
The Choose Love pop-up store on Regent Street, whose funds from Sebastian Croft's prize will go "predominantly" to queer refugees, according to the actor.Claudia Winkleman with Faithfuls Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft. James Blunt handed the pair their win by voting for a further banishment after the Traitors had already been eliminated.
Choose Love, the charity set to receive £41,500 from 'Heartstopper' actor Sebastian Croft's Celebrity Traitors winnings, states on its website that Palestinians 'are still experiencing a genocide' and signed an open letter calling on the Government to ban arms sales to Israel. Celebrity Traitors requires winners to donate their prize to charity rather than keep it, meaning licence-fee-funded airtime directly promoted the organisations. Tory MP Jack Rankin condemned the choice, calling it a 'pro-migrant crusade' bankrolled by public money.
Choose Love also funded the legal costs of Asylum Aid's High Court challenge against the Rwanda deportation scheme — a case it lost.
Sadiq Khan publicly applauded Ranganathan and Croft's charity choices, wading into the row on the side of the winners.
Maya Jama donated what she would have won to Action for Children after being eliminated before the final.
