Claude maker Anthropic reveals AI computing commitments nearing $900bn while revenue soars twelvefold ahead of its blockbuster IPO

The company's computing commitments have now reached nearly $900bn — a figure that dwarfs its $17bn annual revenue — raising sharp questions from investors about whether the economics of the AI boom can ever pencil out.

Anthropic plans to sell $3.5bn worth of shares to Japanese investors as part of the US listing, with Mizuho Securities managing the Tokyo-side sale.

Some investors have discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion for Anthropic, which would make the float the largest IPO on record, eclipsing SpaceX's $75bn raise in June.

Anthropic filed to go public last week, with Monday's amended filing offering the first detailed look at its quarterly finances ahead of the debut.
