CNN, MS NOW and Politico journalists are blocked from the White House after Trump announces media ban

Trump's former press secretary Stephanie Grisham says the president is "melting down" after he banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico reporters from the White House, with all three outlets confirming their journalists have now been physically denied access. Trump announced the ban on Truth Social, accusing the outlets of writing "purposely negative news" to "diminish Republicans." Grisham revealed that in his first term Trump had ordered her to remove the entire press corps from the White House grounds, and she had held him back — warning that the current ban will widen.

Grisham says Trump has "surrounded himself with sycophants" with none of the guardrails that existed during his first term.

Trump acted without telling his own chief of staff Susie Wiles, who was reportedly out of town when he announced the ban.

The ban comes amid a series of setbacks for Trump, including a worsening cost of living crisis, a Federal Reserve rate rise against his wishes, and the collapse of his mail-in voting plans.
