Comedian Paul Whitehouse, 68, fights off a cashpoint mugger in Islington while buying medicine for his sick wife
Nobody stepped in to help Paul Whitehouse when a thug tried to grab his bank card on Friday night, his wife Dr Mine Conkbayir revealed. The attack happened at a cashpoint by the Sainsbury's Local on Essex Road. He had dashed out after she suffered a bad reaction to treatment. He grabbed his card back, leaving the 'perp scuttling away empty-handed', but was still 'frustrated' the next day.
Conkbayir urged Londoners to be 'super vigilant out there' after the 'horrid' ordeal.
Comedian Dawn French called the Islington attack 'utterly not okay'.
The Fast Show star will soon play Argus Filch in HBO's Harry Potter series.
