Company bosses could join parents in the dock under Labour's 'conversion therapy' ban, which carries up to five years in jail

Policy Exchange barrister Akua Reindorf KC warns the draft Conversion Practices Bill is "ideological, authoritarian and unworkable," concluding it would criminalise parents who simply try to discourage a child from transitioning. Equalities minister Olivia Bailey published the bill on Thursday, insisting it targets only abusive conduct — but critics say vague language around "psychological pressure" leaves ordinary parenting exposed.
Policy Exchange's report, endorsed by Sharron Davies, calls the bill "wholly unsuitable legislation for a democratic and pluralistic society."
Kemi Badenoch attacked Labour as "a student union Government," warning: "Parents start getting arrested for parenting their children."
Andrew Doyle argues confiscating a teenager's phone or limiting their friendships already meets the bill's definition of "controlling or coercive behaviour."
