Two men in their 20s in Nord-Ubangi, on the border with the Central African Republic, have tested positive, and one has died. The outbreak was declared in mid-May and has now recorded at least 9,400 cases. It is caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus, which has no approved vaccine or treatment. Ituri province remains the epicentre, with almost three quarters of confirmed cases.

Kenya's cases rose to eight on Sunday when a 49-year-old patient attendant tested positive.

Kenya's first patient travelled from Congo through Uganda and died at Nairobi Hospital on 5 October.

The WHO warns that pockets are easing, 'but geographically it's spreading out'.
