All 18 crew members aboard the Liberian-flagged Contship Jet were rescued unharmed after three maritime drones hit the vessel on Wednesday, approximately 17 nautical miles off Bulgaria's Cape Kaliakra. The ship had left Haifa and was heading to the Romanian port of Constanța when it came under attack; it went down overnight, and Bulgarian authorities confirmed the sinking on Thursday. No group has claimed responsibility.

All 421 containers went down with the vessel, including lithium-ion batteries, corrosive liquids, acids and industrial materials, raising environmental concerns.
