Convicted murderer who broke out of a Tennessee prison is caught in Missouri when his truck gets stuck in mud

Jacob Allen Morley, convicted of murdering a co-worker, was recaptured by Missouri State Highway Patrol after nine days on the run when the stolen truck he was driving became bogged down in mud. Tennessee Department of Corrections confirmed the arrest Tuesday, saying that tips from the public and coordination with law enforcement partners had helped bring him in.

Morley had broken through a fence at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville before stealing a white 2008 Ford F-350 from a lot roughly two miles away.

A $17,500 reward had been offered for information leading to his capture before he was eventually located hundreds of miles from the prison.

The stolen truck was separately recovered behind a shopping centre in Marion, Illinois, a city 120 miles north of the facility.
