Posting on X, Reform UK councillor George Madgwick accuses Wetherspoons, 'our nations biggest pub chain', of barring veterans from its Gosport pub for wearing Remembrance poppies, sharing footage in which the manager calls it 'Company policy' and a 'full blanket' on anything that 'could be political'.
Madgwick fumes: 'I can't believe what I just heard' after the manager defends the poppy ban.
'Today it's a blanket,' the man at the door retorts, seizing on the manager's own words.
Backing the manager, a second person says: 'I've got enough to deal with… just doing my job.'
