Country star John Anderson, the 'Swingin'' hitmaker, dies aged 71 THREE DAYS after attending the Hall of Fame ceremony

John Anderson died peacefully in his sleep at his Smithville, Tennessee home on Wednesday, and no cause of death has been given. Tim McGraw had sung his songs with him on Sunday night in Nashville. 'He was in such good spirits,' McGraw said, calling himself 'completely shook'. His family said they were 'completely heartbroken' at an 'unimaginable loss'.

The Florida-born baritone scored five country No 1s, including 'Seminole Wind' and 'Straight Tequila Night'.

He once worked as a roofer on Nashville's Grand Ole Opry before he found fame.
