Jogesh Bhandari once texted his accomplice Craig Morris: 'I need you to help me out with a scam.' Gloves worth more than $3.18m that were meant for US hospitals never arrived. The cash went on family debts, an Audi A5 and holidays instead. Judge William Harbage KC named Bhandari the 'driving force' at Northampton Crown Court on Friday. Morris, from Lytham St Annes, was jailed for three years and nine months.

Wife Meenakshi Bhandari, a former pharmacist, walked free with a suspended sentence.

The judge said Bhandari's letter of remorse was 'difficult to accept'.

Morris gloated in one message: 'Show me the money!!!!!!!!'
