What looked like a crash on Coity Road in Bridgend has become a murder inquiry. Eleanor Barnfield, 47, was found with puncture wounds unrelated to the collision after her car hit a wall at about 12:43pm on Monday, and she later died in hospital despite medics' efforts. A 61-year-old Bridgend man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a police operation around Ger-y-Nant, a Valleys to Coast property (the housing association where Eleanor worked), and remains in custody.
Chief Superintendent Jason Rees assured the community that teams of detectives and specialist staff are investigating.
'She meant everything to us,' her family said, as trained liaison officers continue supporting them.
Witnesses are urged to contact South Wales Police online quoting reference 2600342470, with more police presence expected locally.
