Crucifix falls and kills priest during Mass in Ecuador minutes after he preached 'all of us are going to die'

Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Guayaquil, had just put on his reading glasses and said 'Let us pray to the Lord'. Facing his congregation, he never saw the large wooden cross detach from the wall behind him. He collapsed when it struck him on Saturday. The moment was streamed live to his Facebook page.

His final sermon warned people waste hours scrolling phones instead of giving time to God.

Parishioners shouted in shock and rushed to the altar before the livestream cut out.

The Archdiocese of Guayaquil said he had 'departed for the Father's House'.
