Emmanuel Macron is on a three-day Gulf trip, and his opponents have branded him 'pathetic'. Around 2,500 people were arrested after weekend riots that burned Limoges town hall. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez admitted police 'lost control' and offered to resign.

In Marseille, 118 officers were injured, and a quarter of the 101 people arrested are children.
