Dame Judi Dench reveals in her new memoir that it was Daniel Craig's idea to kill off M in Skyfall
Dame Judi Dench said she bore some responsibility for M's death, having spent years urging the Bond producers to move the character away from behind a desk.
Dame Judi Dench, 91, discloses in her memoir 'Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It?' that Craig personally pushed for her character M to be killed off in 'Skyfall', even though he was not at the fateful dinner where producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson broke the news to her at the Wolseley restaurant. Dench insists she never cried at being axed, pointing out her eight films beat Roger Moore's run as the longest-serving 007.
Dench calls being sacked by Ralph Fiennes's character first 'an indignity', adding one word: 'Arsehole.'
She admits she has never watched 'Spectre', the 2015 film that followed 'Skyfall': 'I'm still sulking.'
The memoir also surfaces amid fresh Bond casting speculation, with Jack Lowden and Callum Turner named in reports as frontrunners to succeed Craig as 007.
