'Absolutely despicable': Wes Streeting will send RAF Typhoons to defend Saudi Arabia from Iran-backed Houthi missile attacks
The jets will fly defensive missions only and will not strike the Houthis or enter Yemeni airspace. Streeting says the conflict is adding to cost pressures on British households. Houthi strikes on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport killed 14 people and injured more than 300. Britain will also send military advisers and an Atlas A400M, and extend its refuelling support for Saudi jets by 90 days.
The deployment follows a Saudi request that Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Britain would consider.
Riyadh's main airport has been targeted 20 times since the start of October.
A Houthi strike on a Yemeni training camp on Monday killed 58 people.
