Death toll from Houthi missile strike on Yemen training camp rises to 73, with most recruits aged eight to 20

More than 200 people were wounded when three ballistic missiles hit the Al-Alam camp in Shabwa province on Monday during a training exercise. Shabwa governor Awad al-Wazir said many of the new recruits are still missing. 'This had nothing to do with front lines,' he said. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the camp was run by Saudi forces and called the strike defensive.

Rashad al-Alimi, Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council chairman, branded the strike criminal and vowed to respond.

The Houthis warned other recruits against joining the Saudi-led coalition fighting them.

It is the deadliest attack since fighting between the rebels and Saudi-backed forces restarted this year.
