Nine 3,000kg bunker-busting bombs hit Komyshuvakha village in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region on Monday as residents gathered to collect humanitarian aid, with the roof of an underground school shelter collapsing and trapping survivors beneath the rubble. Zelensky called it "one of the largest mass killings committed by Russia during this war" and declared three days of mourning, warning the toll will rise further. Overnight, Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions, triggering emergency power cuts.

The dead included four police officers and two rescue workers; a hospice in Dnipro and a hospital in Kharkiv were also struck, wounding 73 people.

Zelensky said the strike was Moscow's deliberate reply to Ukraine's offer to extend the Kherson ceasefire — 'Russia is counting on more killings.'

Defying US pressure to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries, Zelensky told Fox News: 'Our response must be painful.'
