Ed Balls, former Norwich City chairman, said there was nobody in Delia Smith's life she listened to more than her husband of 55 years, as tributes flooded in following Michael Wynn-Jones's death on Monday morning. Wynn-Jones, who died peacefully at his Stowmarket home aged 85, had been a majority shareholder at Norwich City for 28 years alongside Smith, overseeing multiple Premier League promotions. Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson were among those to send condolences to Delia online, with Lawson writing she was 'heartbroken'.
Wynn-Jones first attended a Norwich City game at Carrow Road in 1955, aged 13, and remained devoted to the club for seven decades.
He met Delia Smith in 1969 at the Daily Mirror's magazine, where he was deputy editor, and the couple married in Stowmarket in 1971.
Norwich City is to open a book of condolences; former forward Darren Huckerby said 'all at the club owe him so much'.
